Vikings vs. Lions Preview

The Vikings are coming off of a great win against the 49ers last week . This week they take the Detroit Lions. I think it’s going to be a good, close game. The position I’m watching are the deep threat Wide Receivers. For the Vikings they have Percy Harvin who is arguably the fastest player in the matchup today. They are also getting back Jerome Simpson. They signed him in the off-season but he has been suspended for the first 3 games. The Lions have the best Wide Receiver in the NFL, in Calvin Johnson. He’s been ok this year but the Vikings have some of the worst cover Corners in the league. As I said the game is going to be close, and I think it comes down to who’s secondary performs the best. I think the Vikings will pull another one out this week. I think the score will be 20-27 Vikings.

Vikings Win!

Well, I’ll admit it, I was wrong. It was a great game to watch until the last three minutes. The Vikings defense really showed up. They got their first interception sence mid-season last year. But, on one aspect I was right. Kyle Rudolph and Vernon Davis combined for 3 TDs. Jared Allen finally got his first sack, and forced a fumble late in the 4th Quarter. Like I said overall it was a great game until the very end. I don’t think anyone told the refs that you only get 3 timeouts and that without a timeout you can’t challenge the play then give them their timeout back! If you were wondering that’s what happened. First, Toby Gerhart fumbled the ball, his 1st of 3 fumbles in those 3 minuets! Then Harbaugh called his last timeout to stop the clock. Then realized that Gerhart fumbled the ball and that the refs didn’t see it. So he challenged the play with his imaginary timeout that the refs granted him with. Then they reversed the call and gave them a timeout back! This was the first of the many blunders of the this week for the replacement refs. Like the “Fail Mary” in the Packers vs Seahawks game on Monday night. Back to the Vikings game. Overall the Vikings played great and I hope they keep up the great play when the take on the Detroit Lions in the Motor City. Come back later for my preview on that game.

Vikings Vs. 49ers Preview

Well, the Vikings play the 49ers this week. The 49ers have been playing like the best team in the NFL this year. Don’t expect that to change against one of the worst. The position that interests me the most in this matchup is the Tight End Position. Vernon Davis, the 49ers Tight End, is the best in the NFL. He had 2 touchdowns last week, and has 3 for the season. On the other hand the Vikings Tight End is Kyle Rudolph, in his second year out of Notre Dame, has been really good. He had a touchdown last week and is one of Ponder’s favorite targets. I think that in a couple of years we’ll be seeing Rudolph in the Pro-Bowl as one of the best Tight Ends in the game. (Also another reason I’m watching this matchup is I have them both on my Fantasy team). But, the thing that is really going make the difference in this game is the defense. The 49ers have one of, if not the best defense in the NFL. The Vikings have some of the best pass rushers in the league, but they have no one else. So my prediction for this game is Vikings 13, 49ers 27. Thanks for reading and come back for my post game review and a look at who the Vikings are playing next week.
